Makeup in Lucerne

Two options: we apply your makeup for daytime, evening, an event or a wedding, or we show you how to do it yourself. Rocío Furger personally leads every appointment. She opened her salon on Zürichstrasse in Lucerne in October 2006.

Made up, not painted on

We begin with the skin, not the colour. We first cleanse and apply care suited to your skin type. Prepared skin requires noticeably less coverage, and the result does not settle into fine lines.

Everything else follows the occasion. Day makeup remains subtle and should not stand out at the office. Business makeup lasts longer and is tailored to indoor light. Evening and event makeup can take more definition because artificial light absorbs colour. Bridal makeup has its own requirements: it must last for many hours, work in photographs and still look like your skin from half a metre away.

The concern we hear most often is: “I will look like a different person.” We therefore work in layers and show you the mirror as we go. If it feels like enough, we stop. If you want to cover redness, a scar or a darker area, mention this at the start so we can plan the order accordingly.

Many clients come not to have makeup applied, but to understand why it looks different at home. We offer three formats: a one-to-one session on your own face, group tuition for two to four people, and a workshop on one topic such as eyes, complexion or brows. Content, duration and process are on the makeup course page. Longer professional training is listed under courses.

What to expect

Four steps, no surprises

  1. Rocío Furger discussing the occasion with a client using a tablet
    01

    Discuss the occasion

Where are you going, what light will there be, and will photographs be taken? We also ask what bothers you about your current makeup. This determines colour depth and longevity.

  2. Close-up of foundation being pressed onto the cheek with a sponge
    02

    Prepare the skin

Cleansing, care and primer if needed. This step determines whether the result looks the same four hours later.

  3. Rocío Furger working on a client’s eye makeup
    03

    Build in layers

Complexion, eyes, brows and lips, in that order and in thin layers. You check the mirror as we work and decide whether to continue or stop.

  4. Close-up of setting powder being applied with a large brush
    04

    Set the result

We set the makeup and note the shades used. In a lesson, you perform this stage yourself while we observe and correct.

Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know

How much does makeup cost?

Day makeup costs CHF 59, Business CHF 69, Evening CHF 89, and Bridal CHF 149 without or CHF 249 with a trial. Makeup after a facial costs CHF 59. Lessons and workshops start at CHF 280 excluding VAT; all three levels are on the makeup course page.

Will it look obvious that I am wearing makeup?

We build thin layers and cover only where needed instead of masking the whole face evenly. We test the shade on the jawline rather than the back of the hand so the boundary at the neck disappears. You see the result as we work and decide whether to continue.

Do you offer bridal makeup and a trial?

Yes. We recommend a trial several weeks before the wedding, ideally at the same time of day as the ceremony. We choose and record the shades there, making the wedding-day appointment quicker and straightforward. Send us the wedding date so we can check available times.

Can I learn to apply my own makeup?

Yes, during a one-to-one session on your own face. You hold the brush while we correct and explain each step. You leave with your own sequence on paper. Details are on the makeup course page.

Can two people or a group attend?

Yes. Group tuition is for two to four people so everyone has enough time on their own face. For larger groups, such as before a wedding or an event with friends, we plan a workshop on one fixed topic. We agree the appointment and process beforehand.

Do I need to bring my own products?

Not when having makeup applied; we use our range. For a lesson, bring your own products. We can then assess what suits your skin tone, what you can use differently and what does not need replacing. This generally saves more than the session costs.
