Your lips, with clearer definition

Permanent lip makeup should not look like applied lipstick. The outline is balanced and the colour is shaded softly inwards. The result remains translucent enough for your natural lip texture to stay visible.

Before treatment, we draw the outline with a pencil. Small differences between the right and left side can be balanced visually without inventing a new lip shape. You assess the drawing close up and from conversational distance.

We mix the colour to suit your skin, natural lip colour and the result you want for everyday life. Fresh pigment looks much stronger; the softer target shade appears only after healing.

The permanent makeup overview compares lips, eyeliner and eyebrows. This page focuses on the outline, colour, healing and refreshing of lip pigment.

What to expect

Four steps to the healed result

  1. Rocío Furger discussing the medical history form for permanent lip makeup with a client
    01

    Consultation

We discuss medication, previous pigmentation, sensitivities, desired shape and colour. The fee is credited towards the treatment.

  2. Rocío Furger drawing the desired lip outline
    02

    Draw the outline

The line is measured against your face and checked in the mirror. Pigment is applied only when the shape and width are right for you.

  3. Pigmentation device working along a client’s lip outline
    03

    Outline and shading

After numbing, we work in fine passes. The outline provides definition and the shading blends the line softly into the natural lip colour.

  4. Client viewing her permanent makeup in a hand mirror after treatment
    04

    Heal and review

The lips initially look stronger and may be briefly swollen. After four to eight weeks, we assess the healed shade and discuss whether any area should be balanced.

Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know about permanent lip makeup

Does permanent lip makeup look like lipstick?

Not with the technique we use. We create a clear but soft outline with gentle shading inwards. The fresh colour looks strong, but becomes much more translucent after healing. You can still wear lipstick over it.

Can I see the colour beforehand?

You see the colour mixture and the drawn shape before we begin. The final healed colour cannot be guaranteed like paint on a colour card because your natural lip tone, skin and healing affect it. We therefore work conservatively and add more later if required.

How long does permanent lip makeup last?

Usually two to three years. Sun exposure, skin, aftercare and metabolism affect how quickly the colour fades. While the existing pigment remains visible, a refresh costs CHF 375.

What will I look like immediately afterwards?

The colour is stronger on the first day than the later result, and the lips can appear swollen for up to two days. Between day three and seven, the surface flakes lightly. Do not pull or scratch; you receive aftercare guidance at the appointment.

What should I know about cold sores?

We do not treat an active cold sore. If you have had cold sores before, tell us during the consultation. Ask your doctor whether prescribed preventive medication is appropriate for you.

When do we postpone the appointment?

We do not pigment acute inflammation, open areas or active cold sores on the lips. We discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication and pre-existing conditions during the consultation; where there is uncertainty, medical clearance is required first.
