A craft, not one weekend

This intensive course covers natural-nail preparation, forms, tip extensions, three-phase gel structure, filing the shape and French finishes. It also covers correct infill intervals, removal without damaging the natural nail, workstation hygiene and when an enhancement should not be performed.

Small groups let Rocío Furger assess every hand. If you file too quickly or apply too thickly, you learn this during training rather than with your first client. Most time is practical, with theory kept as concise as professional standards allow.

The course is for beginners, beauticians adding nails to their services and career changers planning self-employment. No completed prior qualification is required; you need patience for the first enhancements, which rarely look as imagined.

Bring two models for practice days, a table lamp if you already own one, and writing materials. Gels, files, tips, forms, brushes and curing lamps are provided. You receive a Beauty Rocío diploma and equipment list. See all courses.

Nail design training with a diploma

The nail designer occupation is not regulated in Switzerland. There is no prescribed route or federal qualification for this craft alone. What matters is not the title on paper, but how well your work lasts on a client.

This is an intensive course, not a weekend introduction. You work on models and repeat the complete process until secure: prepare the natural nail, place a form or tip, build in three phases, file the shape and finish. You also learn correct infill timing and removal without damaging the natural nail.

Rocío Furger teaches personally. Her Swiss beautician diploma dates from 2001, her nail design diploma from 2006, and she completed further training in Italy and Germany. The Beauty Rocío course diploma records completed content; it is not a Swiss federal vocational qualification. That qualification belongs to the three-year beautician apprenticeship and is not required for nail design.

For those planning self-employment, the business element includes realistic Central Switzerland pricing, timings for a new set and infill, and the equipment required to start. You receive the equipment list with the diploma.

Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know

Do I need prior experience?

No. The course begins with the natural nail. Previous self-practice adds routine but may also mean unlearning habits. Small groups allow both starting points.

How many participants attend?

Groups remain small so everyone practises repeatedly. One-to-one tuition is also available and condenses the schedule. Tell us your preference in the initial discussion.

What must I bring?

Two models for practice days and writing materials. We provide gels, files, tips and lamps. Bring existing tools if you have them so you can train with your future setup.

What is the diploma worth?

It is a Beauty Rocío diploma documenting completed course content. Rocío’s Swiss beautician diploma dates from 2001 and her nail design diploma from 2006, with further training in Italy and Germany. The course diploma is not a Swiss federal vocational qualification; a portfolio also matters when seeking employment.

Can I work independently afterwards?

That is the course goal. You learn the complete process, realistic timings and prices. Expect several further weeks practising on friends and family before your pace is consistent. You can ask us questions after the course.

What does it cost and when does it run?

The group course costs CHF 1600 and private tuition CHF 2400, both excluding VAT. Dates are agreed with consideration for working participants and listed in the course information.
